Final Assembly Pacific Island Style!

Our Final Assembly and Prizegiving presentation for 2012 was a drum routine by the boys and a dance by the girls, traditional Rarotongan style. We designed and made our whole costume ourselves. We used crepe paper, elastic, staples, sewing needles and thread. First we had to research what the traditional costumes for boys and girls were, then we needed to plan our colour scheme and order our materials. Finally, we needed to make each item of our costumes. The girls wore an orchid in their hair, a skirt, and a lei. The boys wore a lei, a skirt, and leggings. We also had to research a traditional dance which the girls had to learn off by heart. The boys had to learn a drum routine which Ms Reader put together for us. Here is a slideshow of us rehearsing in our classroom before we went down to the hall to perform.
