Art - Blending and Shading

Over the last two weeks, Kereru have been looking at shading and blending in Art. We have worked hard to paint some fantastic-looking backgrounds by blending two primary colours together to make other colours. We then printed off the letters of our names using WordArt and 'coloured' them in by blending different shades of one of our primary colours using soft crayons. Finally, we cut around our letters very carefully and arranged them on our backgrounds in an interesting and eye-catching way. Ms. Reader thinks that Kereru have made a fantastic job of their artworks and that they look really good hanging up on our classroom wall. Everyone should be very proud of their work!

Whats been happening lately???

Hi,

Toys for Christchurch

 WOW!!!! Kereru can't believe how many toys got donated to the poor kids that lost their toys
in the christchurch earthquake. Really, it was unbelievable!

Camp Visit

 Four weeks ago Kereru and Piwakawaka had a camp vist with Toroa. We did loads of things like going down the giant water slide. It was also Georgia's birthday so we sang happy birthday and had cake!

Topic Trip
The school went on a topic trip to Ashburton to tune in to our transport unit. We went to the Aviation Museum to look at air transport. Best of all we liked that we got to sit in aeroplanes and helicopters. Afterwards we went to town for the scavenger hunt. In the scavenger hunt we got a page of  clues which we had to work out. We then had to take digital photos of the answers to proove that we were super smart.

 After the scavenger hunt we went to the Ashburton Domain and had a good munch and a nice play on a gigantic playground!!!

Dorie school's exciting triathlon

On Monday the 1st of March Dorie School did a triathlon. The little Piwakawakas did very well. A couple of them crashed but they never gave up!! Well done to the seniors that entered the challenge. We think you were great. Kereru took part with great confidence.
